Yesterday (Thursday 16th October), all Second Year and Fifth Year students attended talks facilitated by Jenna and Padraig from the Mayo Mental Health Association.

Second Year students attended the Breathe Talk, which focused on Mental Health - what this means, what we can do to promote our own positive mental health and how we can help others if they are struggling.

Fifth Year Students attended the Fractured talk, which focused on the importance of resilience, and the steps that we can take each day to help build our own resilience, and deal with the challenges or stresses that life can present us with.

The talks were engaging and interactive, and Padraig and Jenna sign posted various different services and resources that are available to students and also provided them with simple strategies to help build resilience and promote positive mental health.

Jenna and Padraig each commented on how lovely their groups were – they said they were engaged, polite, willing to participate and ask questions. They also made particular reference to the fact that they are rarely asked such insightful and well thought out questions, and they were very impressed by this.
